Known for its research, teaching and service to the community, the University of Georgia's College of Education (COE) continues to make strides forward.  This upward movement was reinforced by the COE's improvement in U.S. News and World Report's 2015 edition of Best Graduate Schools.  Ranked last year at 43rd among all schools of education, the COE moved up to 33rd place, a significant jump forward. The College also continued to rise among public schools of education, moving up to 23rd from its ranking of 33rd last year.

"We are thrilled with all of the positive changes occurring at the College of Education," said Craig H. Kennedy, dean of the College.  "The new U.S. News rankings support what we are seeing on the ground—faculty's efforts in research are having a greater impact, we are developing new and innovative approaches to instruction, and increasing our outreach to the community.  Importantly, that hard work is gaining national recognition."

Along with the significant increase in overall ranking for the College, six programs were ranked in the top 10 nationally.  Those specialty programs include, elementary teacher education, secondary teacher education, curriculum/instruction, student counseling and personnel services, technical/vocational education, and higher education administration.  Having so many top ranked departments places the COE fourth nationally among all education schools in terms of highly ranked programs.

Along with innovations in teaching, research and outreach, the College also continues to have a significant economic impact on the state of Georgia.  In the last year, the COE has expanded its partnerships with school systems, brought in more than  $14.2 million in research to facilitate new discoveries, and graduated more than 1,250 teachers, school leaders, counselors, and related health and human services professionals.
