The Mary Frances Early College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology ranked in the top five for doctoral programs in kinesiology, according to the National Academy of Kinesiology (NAK) 2023 Doctoral Program Evaluation in Kinesiology.

Out of 35 programs across the country, the College’s doctoral program in kinesiology ranked fifth when adjusted for the size of faculty and fourth when unadjusted for the size of faculty.

The NAK evaluated programs over a three-year period from 2020-2022. Data factored into the rankings includes program faculty’s funding, productivity, and visibility, as well as students’ admissions, employment, publications, and student support.

“The department’s outstanding doctoral program ranking reflects our commitment to excellence in scholarly activities by both our faculty and graduate students,” said Jamie Cooper, department head and professor in the Department of Kinesiology. “We will continue to strive for success in research, innovation, and academic rigor to prepare our graduates for impactful careers in the field.”
