BSEd in Science Education / MEd in Science Education
Receive your bachelor’s degree in science education and take your career to the next level with our highly regarded master of education degree in the same program.
After completing the MEd program in science education, you will be eligible for a pay increase within most Georgia school systems and can apply graduate credits toward recertification. Because MEd coursework is online, this program will support students’ ongoing learning no matter where their first year of teaching takes them geographically.

Curriculum
In this program of study, you typically finish your core classes by the third year. Then, in your fourth year, begin taking graduate-level courses and continue for one full year after graduating with a BSEd.
Continue to take classes through the fall and spring semesters of your fifth year, when you will take specialized science and education courses to prepare you for teacher certification.
How to Apply
All undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a Double Dawgs program. Degree pathways are structured so that undergraduates first move through their core and major courses in approximately three years. Because undergraduates may share up to 12 graduate-level courses with their undergraduate program of study, the master’s degree coursework begins when students are still undergraduates.
Students admitted to the BSEd in science education program with a minimum 3.2 GPA will be considered eligible for the BSEd in science education/MEd in science education Double Dawgs pathway.
After successful completion of bachelor’s degree coursework and completion of requirements for the UGA Graduate School, Double Dawgs participants become master’s students. Admission to the graduate degree program will require:
- 3.2 minimum GPA
- Statement of purpose detailing the goals this program can help you to meet

Deadline to Apply
Students will apply for admission to the UGA Graduate School no later than April 1 during their undergraduate student teaching semester in year four.

A close working relationship with your advisor is paramount to progressing through your program of study. You will typically begin with an undergraduate advisor and, as you are accepted to the Double Dawgs pathway, you will be paired with a graduate advisor.
Almost all in-state students begin their studies at UGA paying limited tuition or fees. Please note that these amounts are subject to change and are meant to give prospective students an idea of the costs associated with a degree at the University of Georgia College of Education.
Students may qualify for a variety of assistantships, scholarships, and other financial awards to help offset the cost of tuition, housing, and other expenses.
