EdS in Science Education
Our science education program emphasizes curriculum and teaching practices from the most current research, aligning closely with state and national standards, including those established by the National Science Teachers Association and the Next Generation Science Standards.
As part of this Ed.S. in Science Education, you will complete an original research or evaluation project on a topic of interest to you. Graduates of this program further upgrade their teacher certification in a science field from the T-5 to the T-6 level.

Curriculum
In our Ed.S. program, you will take courses in educational research, teaching strategies, curriculum, integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and other science education-related topics. You will also take graduate-level courses in the psychological and social foundations of education and, with permission of the instructor, you may elect to take some doctoral-level courses in science education.
Most courses are scheduled during the Summer, evenings, or online. The capstone requirement for the Ed.S. is an applied project, the result of an original research project related to your interests. You will take courses from one of the largest and most respected groups of science education faculty in the world.

Students pursuing an Ed.S. in Science Education are presumed to hold a master’s degree and Clear Renewable T-5 level certification either in a secondary science field or in middle grades education with science as one of their specialty fields.
