MA in Educational Psychology (Gifted and Creative Education)
Become grounded in the idea that giftedness and creativity are expressed in diverse ways among diverse people; that creativity is a universal potential to be nurtured and enhanced; and that the best education is tailored to students’ specific needs. You will focus on instruction, research, and service.
As you move through this program, you will develop knowledge and skills to research teach and support gifted, creative, and advanced P-12 students. Students in this option conduct research and complete a thesis project.
This program is appropriate for students who want to pursue a deeper understanding of how students learn and what makes effective learning environments, and want to continue to work in higher education and develop their own research. Graduates of our master of arts program usually continue on to a doctoral degree. A large portion of our program involves in-depth research and analysis, and you will graduate with strong theoretical grounding in your specialization and research experience to be a leader in your field.

Curriculum
This emphasis is built on the research and traditions of eminent scholars in gifted and creative education. As you progress through the coursework, you will become grounded in the idea that giftedness and creativity are expressed in diverse ways among diverse people; that creativity is a universal potential to be nurtured and enhanced; and that the best education is tailored to students’ specific needs. Your coursework and research will focus on instruction, research, and service. You will conduct research that will culminate in a thesis.
Our gifted and creative education faculty members are experts in the areas of gifted education, diverse populations of high-ability students, and creativity. Faculty members are active at both the national and state level in gifted associations.
This degree program does not meet the GaPSC requirements for a certification upgrade for public school teachers.

Part 2: Apply to the M.A. in Educational Psychology (Gifted and Creative Education)
Admission is dependent on a number of factors including the match of the student’s interests to the faculty research interests, GPA, and availability of an appropriate advisor.
Only students who are considered possible future candidates for the doctoral program are recommended for admission to the master of arts (M.A.) program.
The program begins in the Fall term. The program is on-campus only.
