Curriculum

Primarily intended for students who wish to pursue certification in World Language Education, our MAT in World Language Education requires a minimum of 36 semester hours of coursework, one prerequisite (special education course), and a final portfolio and oral examination.

Our program consists of two groups of courses:

  • Group I courses are centered around practicum experiences and fulfill the requirements for T-5 certification
  • Group II courses are completed during your second year and focus on advanced educational theories and practice

You will have two practicum experiences, one at an elementary school and one at a middle or high school. Also, you will complete a full-time practicum at a carefully chosen host school under the supervision of an experienced teacher and a UGA supervisor. If you are a current teacher, you may use your school to satisfy the practicum requirement.

Our nationally recognized faculty will work with you to customize your degree program.
