Become an expert in basic human development and learning and motivation, or focus on gifted and creative education or quantitative methods. With flexible core classes, you will be able to study a research area that suits your needs.
A large portion of our program involves in-depth research and analysis, and you will graduate with a strong grasp of your chosen topic and the research experience to be a leader in your field. Our graduates are consistently recognized for their innovative work, which covers diverse topics such as the impacts of curriculum and beliefs on learning, empirical studies of student behavior, new methods of assessment, and pushing the boundaries of giftedness and creativity.
Graduates of our program go on to teach in schools or other educational settings, or they continue studies to become research leaders.
Become grounded in the idea that giftedness and creativity are expressed in diverse ways among diverse people; that creativity is a universal potential to be nurtured and enhanced; and that the best education is tailored to students' specific needs. You will focus on instruction, research, and service.
As you move through this program, you will develop knowledge and skills to teach and support gifted, creative, and advanced P-12 students. Because this degree has a more applied emphasis than the masters of arts, it is primarily designed for students who want to work in the schools. Students take a minimum of 37 hours and a comprehensive final exam.
