MEd in Learning, Design, and Technology (Research-Oriented Learning Design)
The M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology trains you in the latest technologies and tools to design and implement lessons and training programs. Our goal is to prepare professionals to identify and analyze learning problems, and then create and implement more effective designs for learning to address these needs.
The research and development-oriented master’s degree track is designed to prepare you for doctoral-level study in educational technology research and for careers in academia and research.
This emphasis is located on the UGA main campus in Athens, although you have the opportunity to take courses offered from other concentrations (some of these may be online).

Curriculum
The curriculum consists of 36 credit hours and a major project and/or research paper that you will present at the end of the program.
Coursework includes:
- History, trends, and issues in the field
- Learning theory and instructional models
- Research methods
- Broad principles of design
- Instructional systems design process
- eLearning development
- Product evaluation
The degree requirements conclude with a portfolio examination. Along the way, you observe and participate in the ongoing initiatives of current doctoral students, advisors, and research groups.

While completing your Graduate School application, be sure to attach the following:
- GRE scores (for research-oriented M.Ed. applicants)
- Statement of purpose: Should clarify the candidate’s relevant background, interests, and goals in relation to the program
- Letters of recommendation: Letters should be from individuals who can evaluate the applicant’s scholarly ability and potential for success in a graduate program. Preferably at least two of them are from faculty who have instructed the applicant in a previous program of study.

A close working relationship with your advisor is key as you progress through your program of study. Please note that most graduate students at UGA are not assigned to a faculty advisor until after admittance.
Almost all in-state students begin their studies at UGA paying limited tuition or fees. Please note that these amounts are subject to change and are meant to give prospective students an idea of the costs associated with a degree at the University of Georgia College of Education.
Students may qualify for a variety of assistantships, scholarships, and other financial awards to help offset the cost of tuition, housing, and other expenses.
