Double Dawg graduates from this program move into leadership roles in schools and other educational organizations, such as teachers of middle school English or language arts, or directors in camps, drama programs, or specialized training centers.

Almost all in-state students begin their studies at UGA paying limited tuition or fees. Please note that these amounts are subject to change and are meant to give prospective students an idea of the costs associated with a degree at the University of Georgia College of Education.

Students may qualify for a variety of assistantships, scholarships, and other financial awards to help offset the cost of tuition, housing, and other expenses.

Application Process

The middle grades Master of Arts in Teaching program uses a cohort model, and cohorts begin in the fall semester each year. We accept applications on a rolling basis, beginning Oct. 15, for the first cohort of Double Dawg students. Prospective students can apply during the entire year before their intended fall semester start, up to July 1 before fall semester begins in August.

Application decisions are usually made within two to three weeks of a complete application. Late applications that come in after the mid-March target deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and those decisions generally will be made within two to three weeks of a complete application.

If you are admitted to the Double Dawgs pathway that leads to a Master of Arts in Teaching, you will need to obtain a preservice certificate. More information about the steps to apply will be provided after admission.

Admissions Criteria

All current undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a Double Dawgs program. Please contact the program's pathway advisor for more information.

The program faculty may request additional materials before admissions decisions are finalized. As you complete your application for the UGA Graduate School, you will be able to attach the following documents:

  • Curriculum vita (CV) or resume
  • Statement of purpose (short essay)
  • Official transcripts

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above are exempt from the entrance exam requirement.
