Online Teaching Endorsement
This endorsement will qualify you to teach P-12 online classes in Georgia. Learn from experts in online instruction to become a leader in this evolving format.
After completing your coursework, you will apply through the Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology to the Professional Standards Commission for endorsement evaluation and approval.

Curriculum
Note that you must be certified to teach in Georgia before completing 12 credits of required courses, including a 3-credit online field teaching experience.
Specific program requirements include:
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0
- Completion of at least one semester of online teaching experience in grades P-12 in your field and at certification grade level
- Submission of a P-12 Online Teaching Endorsement Portfolio to the Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia for the evaluation of their competencies

How to Apply
All applicants must complete the College’s internal endorsement application form in addition to any other applications required by the endorsement program or UGA Graduate School.
Admissions
Students enrolled in a graduate teacher education degree (MAT or MEd) program must:
- Submit copy of an approved Letter of Intent to pursue the online endorsement (LOI)
- Have a 3.00 or higher grade point average in the major (K-6 requires 3.50 broader knowledge base needed to teach core academic courses, i.e. math or science)
- Provide evidence of exposure to and comfort with using technology needed to teach online (i.e. previous computer and technology coursework, previous online courses)
Note: Additional computer technology coursework may be required
Students not enrolled in a teacher education degree program must:
- Hold a clear renewable teaching certificate (including the Technical Specialist certificate, level 4 or higher, or Permit, level 4 or higher)
- Meet all qualifications for admission as non-degree students outlined by the University of Georgia’s Graduate School
- Have a minimum of three years teaching experience in a P-12 school environment in field
