Several programs in the department train counselors to work in a variety of community and mental health settings. These include the M.Ed. in Professional Counseling/Mental Health Counseling, the Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, and the Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services/Counselor Education (Gwinnett campus). Depending on the degree program and internship setting, graduates are prepared to serve as counselors in settings such as the following:

  • Community mental health agencies
  • Hospitals
  • Juvenile justice facilities
  • Outdoor therapeutic programs
  • Drug and alcohol treatment facilities
  • College and university counseling centers
  • Private practice
