Justin is a native Athenian and received his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Georgia. While working for UGA Libraries, he completed a Master's in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from Valdosta State University. Previously, Justin has enjoyed moving and storing unique and rare materials from the history and culture of Georgia in the UGA Special Collections Libraries vault. On weekends, he provided reference services for the patrons of the Athens-Clarke County Library. In 2014, Justin became one of the 25 professional academic advisors hired as part of the Provost's initiative to enhance advising services at UGA. Chosen for the College of Education, he began advising for English Education, Math Education, and World Language Education undergraduate majors. Since then, he has served as the Associate Director for Academic Advising in the COE Office of Student Services and currently serves as the interim Director for that office. He is passionate about helping students find all the information they need for their success and supporting a team of engaged and highly capable advisors.
His favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien, and he would love to talk to you about it all day.
"Elves seldom give unguarded advice, for advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill. But what would you? You have not told me all concerning yourself; and how then shall I choose better than you?" -J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
