Research Summary

I am the principal investigator of the Physical Activity and Learning Program (PAL), which is a multi-disciplinary project that involves faculty from the Department of Kinesiology and the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Department of Health Promotion and Behavior in the College of Public Health. The PAL program is funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program administered by the Georgia Department of Education. The PAL is an after-school program conducted in two Clarke County elementary schools that will: a) stimulate children's learning and academic achievement in mathematics and reading; b) increase physical activity levels and health behaviors; and c) promote family involvement in guiding children's academic and health-related behaviors at home.
