Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology (Exercise Science, Athletic Training)
Dr. Schmidt's primary research interests include studying the biomechanical features of both concussive and subconcussive head impacts, the role of the cervical musculature in mitigating head impact severity, proper concussion evaluation techniques for guiding return to play decision, and readiness to return to driving following concussion. She is also interested in the influence of sport equipment design on emergency care of cervical spine injuries.
