Quantitative Methods Consulting Center (QMC)

Education researchers encounter unique challenges in the pursuit of knowledge about teachers and learners in formal and informal educational contexts. Therefore, education researchers need specialized support from experts who have experience with and understand these constraints and challenges.

The purpose of the Quantitative Methods Consulting Center (QMC) is to provide statistical consulting for members and partners of the Mary Frances Early College of Education. The QMC also works with local school districts and organizations conducting educational research studies and evaluations.

QMC Operating Policies

The QMC prioritizes researchers in the College, but also works with others conducting educational research (e.g., discipline-based education researchers, local school districts). Clients should complete a request form to submit a request for consultation or training.

Sponsored by the Department of Educational Psychology, five hours of consulting services are provided free of charge to members of the College. Complimentary hours are given per person or project. After the complimentary five hours, the standard rate is $75/hour (not including consultation meetings, which are free of charge). For researchers and practitioners within UGA, but outside of the College, the standard rate is also $75/hour. For researchers and practitioners outside of UGA, the rate is $125/hour. The number of hours is determined by center personnel and shared in the service agreement. Additional funding arrangements for long-term proposals or projects will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

The QMC will assist graduate students with designing a thesis/dissertation study, provide software support, or help with interpreting results, but will not analyze their data. The QMC will support student coursework from an instructional perspective, but will not analyze data from assignments.
