Do you ever wonder how you can incorporate more technology into your classroom and have it connect to the standards? Digital storytelling is one way to do this! There are many ideas about digital storytelling in regards to what it is, what it looks like, and how it may be used in the classroom.
In this interactive session, we will explore varying definitions of digital storytelling and view examples created by students from early elementary through middle school. In particular, we will discuss how the creation of digital stories supports the Common Core Standards and how students may use this medium to support/demonstrate their learning across a variety of content areas and genres. Participants will be introduced to free and readily available resources that can be used to create digital stories with their students, and workshop time will be provided to experiment with these tools during our session.

Adam Crawley is a doctoral student in the department of language and literacy education at the University of Georgia and was an elementary teacher in various metro-Atlanta school districts for 12 years. During his career, Crawley has served as a teacher consultant for both the Red Clay Writing Project and for school systems in which he's worked. Crawley is passionate about reading and writing, and he enjoys sharing that enthusiasm with others through collaboration and professional learning. His research interests include digital literacy, social justice, and culturally diverse children's literature. In his free time, Crawley enjoys traveling and historic preservation.
