AiMS Modeling in Biology Project Summer Institute

This project begins by attending this two-day summer institute that will bring Georgia and Alabama high school biology teachers together on the University of Georgia Campus in Athens, GA.

Teachers who attend the June workshop will receive:

  • A $200 stipend for participation
  • Room and board while in Athens
  • Travel reimbursement of up to $175 for mileage and incidentals*
  • Materials for teaching biology using models

* For teachers in Alabama, we will organize carpooling or other shared transportation.

Teachers who attend the summer institute will also have the option to collaborate with the project team during the 2018-2019 school year to use models and modeling to teach challenging biology content. These teachers will use project materials to teach a five-day model-based inquiry investigation on cellular respiration in their classrooms. They will receive a $250 honorarium for their effort.
