The International Association of Reading - Graduate Students (IARGS) welcomes Dr. Thomas Crisp for a research presentation entitled "What's on Our Bookshelves? The Diversity of Children's Literature in Early Childhood Classroom Libraries." Following the presentation is a book donation event in Aderhold Hall Room 319, courtesy of the Georgia Children's Book Awards program. See below for more information.
Dr. Crisp will share his research team's recent exploration of Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start classroom library inventories across metro-Atlanta. He will also share his findings about representations of diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status and class, religion, sexual identity, dis/ability, language, genre, and format, helping educators to consider their own school/classroom libraries and the representations therein.
Reception and Book Donation Event
Join us for refreshments with Dr. Crisp. In addition, browse and select books for your own personal, classroom, and/or research libraries! A wide variety of children's and young adult literature will be available.
