The Mathematics Education Student Association (MESA) invites leading researchers in the field to present work that is at the forefront of mathematics education. From the pursuits of social justice to the mental operations of students, series presenters demonstrate the range of work that spans all aspects of mathematics education.
The MESA speaker series provides graduate students and faculty the opportunity to discuss theoretical and methodological issues that push the boundaries of potential research. International speakers from such places as Israel, South Africa, and the Philippines have also shared their perspectives on the field.
In addition to research-oriented talks, some MESA speakers give talks designed for current teachers and undergraduate students. Topics have included choosing appropriate tasks and motivating students.
