Ruona elected Incoming President of AHRD

Wendy Ruona, an associate professor in lifelong education, administration, and policy, was recently elected as Incoming President of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD). She will serve a six-year term—two years each as Incoming President, President and Former President.

Ruona is the chair for the adult education, learning and organization development program.

Ruona's research focuses on strategic planning, alignment and implementation in organizations; the systems that support performance; talent management; organization development and change; and building the HRD profession (foundations, strategic HRD and theory-practice linkages). Her numerous publications have appeared in several scholarly journals.

Ruona was awarded the Early Career Scholar Award by the AHRD in 2005 and the Outstanding Assistant Professor Award by the University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education in 2002. She has also received various other awards for her writing and research including the Richard A. Swanson Research Excellence Award in 1999 and four AHRD Cutting Edge Awards.

Ruona joined the UGA faculty in 1999. She completed her Ph.D. in HRD at the University of Minnesota.
