The University of Georgia, led by the College of Education, ranks fifth best for four-year schools on BestColleges.com's 2014 list of 100 Best Colleges for Online Degrees. The programs were selected for "excellence in student opinion, admissions assessment, and graduation rate," according to a news release.

The COE launched UGA's first online degree program with a master's in adult education in 2001. It has continued to pioneer the field, presently offering the only undergraduate degree, eight of the 13 master's degree programs and six of the eight graduate certificate and endorsement programs offered online by UGA.

BestColleges.com's analysis of UGA's online degree programs reports:

  • Degrees Available Online: Bachelor's, Master's, Professional Certificate
  • Acceptance Rate: 63%
  • Retention Rate: 94%
  • Graduation Rate: 83%
  • Enrollment Rate: 50%

UGA boasts retention and graduation rates that are well above the national average. The school offers three levels of online-based curriculum.

Additionally, web-based master's degrees are available in the fields of education, financial planning/housing/consumer economics, Internet technology, avian health/medicine, and pharmacy/BioPharma regulatory affairs. The school also offers a professional certification in reading education.
