Francis recognized at Women of Color STEM Conference
College of Education alumna Dionne Cross Francis was recognized for her at the 2014 Women of Color STEM Conference.
Francis (PhD '07), who earned her doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis in applied cognition and development, received the K-12 Promotion of Education Award.
Francis was a secondary level mathematics teacher in Jamaica and the United States prior to completing her doctorate at UGA. Her research focuses on mathematics teacher professional development and student learning. Specifically, it involves designing environments that incorporate strategies that are both cognitively and socially oriented to improve mathematical understanding and achievement. Additionally, she investigates the psychological constructs that influence teachers' instructional practices.
