Hynd named new president of Oakland University
George W. Hynd, former College of Education associate dean for research and external affairs, has been named the next president of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, reports July 9 stories in the _Detroit Free Press_ and _The Oakland Post_.
Hynd previously served as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs for the College of Charleston in South Carolina. He has more than 40 years of educational experience, including serving as the dean of the College of Education at Purdue University from 2003-07, chair of the Division for the Education of Exceptional Children, director of the School of Professional Studies and associate dean of Research and External Affairs at the University of Georgia from 1997-2003.
