Williamson named GACTE 2014 Postsecondary Teacher of the Year
Jimmy Williamson, a faculty member in the College of Education, has been named the 2014 Postsecondary Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE).
Williamson, an academic professional associate in the Department of Career and Information Studies, was also named the 2014 Postsecondary Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences, a division of GACTE.
Williamson will now represent Georgia in the Association for Career & Technical Education Region II competition in fall 2015. The Region winners will then compete at the 2015 National Conference held in December.
Williamson (PhD '99, MEd '90, AB '86) administers and teaches UGA's alternative teacher certification program. He also teaches undergraduate teacher certification students. He is often asked to speak around the state on assessment principles and practices, instructional design, and career and technical student organization competition.
Williamson received his doctorate in instructional technology, his master's degree in reading education and his bachelor's degree in political science from UGA.
He was one of 21 career and technical educators honored by GACTE at their annual conference in July in Atlanta.
