3 researchers honored for their expertise, guidance

Three researchers from the University of Georgia College of Education have been named "outstanding reviewers" for journals produced by the American Educational Research Association.

Martha Carr, Julie Kittleson and Pedro Portes will be honored during a ceremony at AERA's annual meeting this April.

Carr, a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, and Portes, the Goizueta Foundation Chair for Latino Education and executive director of the Center for Latino Success in Education (CLASE), were named outstanding reviewers for the American Educational Research Journal section on teaching, learning and human development. Kittleson, an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education and on-site instructor in the UGA-Clarke County School District's Professional Development School District, was named outstanding reviewer for the journal Educational Researcher.

Each year, editors of AERA journals name expert peers who have helped identify the highest-quality articles for publication. The annual honor recognizes scholars who have provided outstanding professional service to the journals, AERA, and to educational research. Editors may designate up to 10 researchers to receive the honor.
