Bradshaw honored for work in student assessments
An assistant professor who specializes in the field of student assessment has been honored by the field's leading professional organization.
Laine Bradshaw, who teaches in the quantitative methodology program in the college's Department of Educational Psychology, will be presented with the National Council on Measurement in Education's Jason Millman Measurement Scholar Award at the organization's annual meeting this April in Chicago. The award recognizes contributions to the field of applied measurement, and is given to scholars within five years of receiving a doctoral degree.
"I am grateful for the support that my colleagues, the College of Education and NCME provide for me to pursue my research goals," said Bradshaw. "I am thankful to receive the award and excited to continue developing psychometric methods that help improve how we use assessments to support students' learning."
Bradshaw specializes in an emerging field of statistical models that add diagnostic feedback for teachers following a student's assessment. The idea, Bradshaw said, is to give teachers information on student strengths and weaknesses within a certain subject, rather than one overall test score.
