College remains 33rd best in country

The University of Georgia College of Education remained 33rd overall among graduate and professional schools, according to rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. Among public colleges and universities the school remained at 23rd on the list.

"We continue to aim for excellence, and that is reflected by our continued high rankings as a college and of our specialty graduate programs," said Craig H. Kennedy, dean of the College of Education. "I'm proud of our dedicated faculty and top students, who are constantly innovating both in and out of the classroom."

This year the UGA College of Education is listed at No. 33 alongside two other public colleges, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Utah State University.

The magazine also released its rankings of specialty programs offered by the schools. Among the 10 education specialties, the College of Education ranked in Counseling/Personnel Services (3rd), Curriculum/Instruction (9th), Elementary Education (6th), Higher Education Administration (6th), Secondary Education (6th) and Vocational/Technical education (3rd).

The University of Georgia College of Education graduates more than 1,200 teachers, educational leaders, counselors, exercise and sports scientists, and related health and human services professionals each year. The college is a leader in the state and across the nation thanks to innovative school and community partnerships, range of research and classroom innovations.
