ETAP faculty news: Oen accepts Peace Corps assignment

Denise Oen has accepted a Peace Corps position as an education curriculum specialist for the Chuuk State Department of Education beginning in July.

Her position entails developing new frameworks for subject areas that will become part of the Chuuk State School System curriculum for grades 5-12, as well as developing career technical education curricula for secondary schools on the island.

Oen has been at UGA since 2013 as a clinical assistant professor working as an on-site instructor in the Office of School Engagement. She is known for her caring and creative personality, her love of early childhood, and the importance of play as a tool for learning. Members of the Department of Educational Theory and practice will truly miss her presence, but wish her the best of luck in her new position.
