Among the 319 teachers employed by Forsyth County this fall, 13 of them are new graduates of the University of Georgia College of Education.

These new hires, reports the Forsyth News, are among 48 teachers hired by the district directly out of college. These new UGA alums joined veteran educators for a recent district-wide orientation, which is a time for every school personnel to gather for highlights about the district.

"We're one of the few districts in the Southeast to continue to grow during the recession, and this summer we had an explosion of newcomers registering for school," said Superintendent Jeffrey Bearden, who is starting his second year with the district. "We are proud to be home to over 44,000 students this school year."
