A new assistant professor in the College of Education's Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education will lend his expertise to a National Institutes of Health study section.

Joel Ringdahl was recently named to a four-year post with the Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities study section of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. He is part of a team that will be reviewing grant applications specific to that area.

"It's exciting to get this experience reviewing research proposals that are on the cutting edge," said Ringdahl, "and to be able to see what advances are going on in this area."

As a new faculty member to the department, Ringdahl's research and expertise focuses on the areas of psychology and behavioral analysis, with a special emphasis on autism and developmental disabilities.
