After she graduates with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Heather Higuera plans to teach elementary school students. Her passion for education has touched the lives of children both nationally and internationally.

In addition to student teaching at Fowler Drive Elementary School in Athens, Georgia, Higuera had the opportunity to teach English in Italy as part of her study abroad program. In fact, one of her proudest accomplishments during her time at the University of Georgia was stepping out of her comfort zone and completing her student teaching abroad in Australia.

"I will miss all of the amazing people I have met over the past four years who have helped me get where I am today," said Higuera. "Take notes and pay attention in class because once you are in the field it will all begin to make sense."

As a student ambassador for the College of Education, Higuera served as an official host and representative for the College. In this role, she met with prospective students and supported a variety of outreach and recruitment activities.

"Enjoy every minute [of your time at the university] because it truly flies by," she said.
