Alumnus helps students embrace robotics

A College of Education alumnus has turned his love of robotics and technology into an advantage for all of Forsyth County, according to a recent story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Jon Welsch (BSED '12), the engineering and technology teacher at North Forsyth Middle School, coached six robotics teams last year for the Forsyth County School district—all of them went to the state finals. These teams, and an overall embracing of robotics competitions across the district's elementary, middle and high schools, is helping introduce students to STEM at an early age and creating a pipeline of young engineers for future Atlanta companies.

This fervor for robotics is also thanks to a partnership with Automation Direct, a Cumming company whose senior tech director saw the benefits of supporting robotics teams at every school.
