Executives, alumni honored by graduate school
Two alumni of the College of Education received the 2018 Alumni of Distinction Award from the University of Georgia Graduate School.
Allison Moran (M.Ed. '91) and Frank Ros (M.Ed. '84) were among eight graduate school alumni who received the honor this year. Recipients are accomplished in their field and serve as a mentor and role model in their profession. Their achievements and contributions to society also exemplify UGA's mission of "to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things."
Atlanta resident Moran joined her family's business, RaceTrac Petroleum Inc., in 1994 in the company's operations department. After several promotions, in 2013 she succeeded her father as chief executive officer, a position she held until 2017. She remains on the company's board of directors.
Moran has been recognized as Shelby Report's Women Executive of the Year, Convenience Store News' Retail Executive of the Year, and was inducted into the Convenience Hall of Fame in 2017. She received her master's degree in early childhood education.
Ros, of Kennesaw, created and implemented strategies that developed the Coca-Cola Company into a leading corporate citizen within the Latino community. As vice president of Hispanic strategies, Ros also received the company's Chairman's Exemplary Award for transforming Coca-Cola Presents Art of Harmony, an urban community relations program, into a nationally recognized and award-winning program.
He also served on Coca-Cola's Multicultural Leadership Council and was chosen as one of Hispanic Business' 2011 "100 Influentials in the U.S." He received his master's degree in business education.
All graduate-level alumni are eligible to be considered for the annual Alumni of Distinction Award, which was established in 2012 and first awarded the following year.
