Associate professor named editor of behavior analysis journal

Joel Ringdahl, an associate professor in the department of communication sciences and special education, was recently named editor of Behavior Analysis: Research and Practice, a multidisciplinary journal committed to increasing communication between behavior analysis and psychology and providing up-to-date information on current developments in the field.

Published by the American Psychological Association (APA), Behavior Analysis is one of two publications created by the association that highlights behavior analytic content. APA is a leading scientific and professional organization with more than 118,000 members from various professions, including researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students.

The online journal presents current experimental research and applications of behavioral analysis in ways that can improve human behavior in all its contexts, including across the developmental continuum in organizational, community, residential, clinical and any other settings in which behavior analysis can make a positive contribution.

Ringdahl—who researches functional analysis and treatment of severe behavior problems, stimulus preference assessments, functional communication training and translational research in the areas of behavioral momentum theory and behavioral economics—currently serves as the journal's incoming editor and is responsible for supervising the review process of all manuscripts submitted in 2019.

His first term as editor begins January 2020.
