Dillard receives 2019 Taylor & Francis Award for Lifetime Achievement
Cynthia Dillard, the Mary Frances Early Professor of Teacher Education in the College of Education’s department of educational theory and practice, is the recipient of the 2019 Taylor & Francis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Foundations of Education by the American Educational Studies Association.
Each year, the award is presented to an individual who has published significantly influential works, excels in mentorship, provides leadership and growth to the academic field, and has a reputation in educational foundations. Dillard received the award at the 51st annual American Educational Studies Association conference in Baltimore, Maryland, which was held Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2019.
Her research interests include critical teacher education, spirituality in education, and African/African American feminist studies. Dillard also serves as the executive director and president of GIVE.BUILD.SHARE, a nonprofit organization that supports educational opportunities for children and families by building schools in Ghana.
