CURA is a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-supported program that aims to promote the advancement of promising minority junior faculty members in drug addiction research. With her acceptance into the program, Fisher will have access to several enrichment opportunities including attendance to the CURA Conference in May, sponsored attendance to the national 2020 conference, sponsored attendance to a professional activity of choice and a grant writer’s book.

“Being accepted into this program means a lot to me because it means that substance use experts and the (NIDA) see my line of research as meaningful and that it has the potential to make an impact on the community,” she says. “The resources provided through this program will also potentially set me up for a successful research grant submission to the NIDA.”

Fisher’s research focuses on improving life outcomes for diverse populations, including adolescent substance use, adolescent mental health, school-based prevention and interventions, minority populations, implementation science and health services research.
