Caleb Thomas

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in social studies education, Caleb Thomas hopes to start his teaching career at either a middle school or high school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His passion for social studies started early in college when he took classes in a variety of subjects from international affairs to anthropology.

After getting married this summer, Thomas plans to move to North Carolina where he hopes to find a job in social studies education. He said one of the most memorable moments of his career at UGA was working as an ambassador and being a part of history in the naming of the Mary Frances Early College of Education earlier this year.

“I’ve had really solid professors that I’ve been taught by specifically in the social studies education department,” Thomas said. “So, I’ll miss being in their classes with my classmates because it really didn’t feel like any other classroom experience I’ve had.”

As a child, Thomas loved studying different countries around the world, including Egypt, and today, he hopes to share his passion with young minds by teaching world history. After graduation, he will miss the sense of comradery in his cohort.

“Honestly being in my cohort was really cool,” said Thomas. “I was surprised at how close we all got and how nice of an environment it was.”
