Faculty members participate in interdisciplinary research pre-seed program

Five faculty members in the Mary Frances Early College of Education partaking in interdisciplinary research teams received pre-seed funding for their projects from the Office of Research in partnership with the Office of the Provost at the University of Georgia.

Pre-seed funding fosters faculty collaboration around vital research topics and paves the way for more funding from the University and external parties. Projects with College faculty members include:

  • AI Competence in STEM: An Interdisciplinary Research Hub
    • Xiaoming Zhai, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Social Studies Education – team lead
    • Ikseon Choi, professor in the Department of Career and Information Studies – team member
  • Trauma Informed Pedagogy and Practice in Higher Education
    • Edward Delgado-Romero, associate dean in the Office of Faculty and Staff Services and professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services – team member
  • UGA Brain-inspired Artificial Intelligence Team
    • Jing Xu, assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology – team member
  • UGA Space and Planetary Science and Engineering Program
    • Kevin McCully, professor in the Department of Kinesiology and director of the Exercise Muscle Physiology Laboratory – team member
