Professor quoted on Parents.com
Cheryl Fields-Smith, professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, was recently quoted in an article from Parents.com outlining tips for Black families interested in homeschooling.
Aided by significant growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, some Black families have found homeschooling to be a viable alternative to traditional schooling.
“Homeschooling has become such a refuge for many families, Black families in particular, that they don’t have to go to the under-resourced school that they were assigned,” Fields-Smith said in a quote to Times Magazine.
