The University of Georgia Mary Frances Early College of Education’s sport management program in the Department of Kinesiology was recently ranked among the top 20 best programs in the country by Niche.
The program ranked sixth among sport management programs based on an analysis of academic, financial, admissions, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education, as well as the reviews of millions of students and alumni.
“We are incredibly proud that our department’s sport management program has been recognized among the top programs in the nation,” said Jamie Cooper, professor and head of the Department of Kinesiology. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty, the quality of our curriculum, and the real-world preparation our students receive for careers in the global sport industry.”
The College’s sport management program prepares students for careers in the global sport industry by offering a curriculum that blends business practices with the current needs of the sport industry. Students learn through hands-on, real-world experiential learning and faculty-led case studies.
As a result, graduates of the program have gone on to work in a variety of industries that include the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and MLS; professional sports teams like the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta United, Atlanta Falcons, Gwinnett Stripers, Dallas Cowboys; agencies like IMG, Creative Artists Agency, Octagon, and Melt; and industry-leading organizations like ESPN, NCAA, Nike, and more.
