Established by the Department of Language and Literacy Education in 1968, the Georgia Children's Book Award committees are committed to rewarding, recognizing, and promoting excellence in children's literature. Their primary objectives are to foster a love of reading, and to introduce children to books of literary excellence. The annual conference not only honors the Georgia Children's Book Award winners, but also includes author and illustrator workshops and practitioner-based sessions.
