Creativity in Education Roundtable

Introduction

The Creativity in Education Roundtable began in 2022 as a way for the UGA Torrance Center for Creativity to build a stronger bridge with education professionals working in the state of Georgia. The Torrance Center hosted its first roundtable meeting in late August 2022, and it has become an annual fall meeting attended by:

  • State gifted coordinators
  • Program managers from the Department of Education
  • District- and school-lead gifted teachers
  • Instructional support specialists
  • Other gifted education professionals

Central topics change each year, but the wonderful conversations, connections, and opportunities for improving the presence of teaching for creativity in Georgia classrooms are the ever-present fundamentals of the roundtable.

Roundtable Objectives

  • To provide an opportunity for Georgia education professionals and practitioners to clearly identify and outline needs regarding creativity in schools, allowing the Torrance Center to more intentionally provide professional development and other services to Georgia schools
  • To build on shared ideas and reflection from past roundtables
  • To showcase past tailored professional learning sessions delivered by the UGA Torrance Center and discuss future teaching for creativity training opportunities with roundtable participants
  • To facilitate educational conversations and strong connections among the Georgia gifted and creative education community
