Join The Next Generation of Leaders

If you have been a principal for no more than three years, you may apply for this 18-month residency program established by the University of Georgia College of Education in partnership with the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders.

We have established this leader induction program to develop leaders with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to promote the success of all students. Our structured approach gives you a network of peers and accomplished leaders from across Georgia who will help guide you as you put new ideas into practice. And because our program aligns with the school-year calendar, you can apply your new knowledge in real time.

This opportunity includes:

  • Face-to-face seminars
  • Interactions with experts in educational leadership (both practitioners and academics)
  • The chance to learn while on the job
  • Ongoing support through coaches and a statewide peer network
  • Using new technologies to support content delivery

Our program is taught by expert faculty and practitioners from across Georgia, who integrate theory and practice in a co-teaching model. These leaders know how to achieve positive results in a school, and they will guide you step-by-step through the process using case studies, problem-solving and other interactive learning strategies.

Topics Every Top Principal Should Know

Our program begins each January, and each monthly session delves into a different area of professional development and leadership topics. These include:

  • The transition from assistant principal to principal
  • Creating a vision and a mission for your school
  • Instructional supervision
