Cognition and Skill Acquisition Lab

The Cognition and Skill Acquisition Laboratory is designed to conduct theory-based research that examines the effects of physical activity on cognitive function. Our studies involve electromyography, electroencephalography, and event-related potentials.

Equipment

The laboratory is equipped with systems that measure physiological function and behavioral performance. These systems include multiple computer workstations that permit the development of experimental protocols to assess attention, information processing, and problem solving.

Research

  • Children’s physical activity
  • Cognitive function
  • Academic performance

Research is conducted in collaboration with the Georgia Prevention Institute at the Medical College of Georgia.
