Fund Purpose

This fund provides an award each academic year to a graduate student who distinguishes themselves based on criteria determined by the faculty.

About the Donor

This fund was established in 2006 in honor of Dr. Arthur (Andy) M. Horne, a devoted educator, mentor, and leader whose life was deeply connected to the University of Georgia and its College of Education. Andy joined UGA in 1989 as a faculty member in Counseling and Human Development Services, where he served as a teacher, mentor, department head, and director of training. After retiring in 2006, he returned to the College to serve as interim and then dean from 2008 to 2012 — a role he described as his most fulfilling position.

Throughout more than 40 years in education, Andy was known for his compassion, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering support of students and colleagues. His commitment to education and mentorship touched countless lives and left a lasting mark on the College of Education.
