Bobby F. and Betty C. Hamil Elementary Education Scholarship

Bobby and Betty Hamil’s love for UGA and their desire to assist college students in pursuing their passion for elementary education was the motive for establishing this annual scholarship in 2020. Bobby and Betty were longtime educators in the Georgia school system, serving for over 30 years. Bobby earned his bachelor’s degree and Betty, her doctoral degree, from UGA. They continued their love of education even after retiring, serving students in need as missionaries in Liberia, China, and Russia.

Eligibility

Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in elementary education
Demonstrated academic achievement, conceived broadly

How to Apply

Completed application form, including signature and recommendations
Personal statement (300-500 words about yourself, your academic/professional achievements, reasons for applying, and career plans)
Resume/curriculum vitae
Two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty or instructor(s)

Applicants will be notified of committee decisions via email by June. Awarded scholarship funds are distributed to student accounts at the beginning of Fall semester.
