Fund Purpose

This fund provides annual scholarship support in memory of Dr. Lester E. Sanders for his distinguished career and leadership in Distributive Education. Recipients should have reasonably high grades, be actively involved with the UGA Chapter of Collegiate Distributive Education Clubs and have definite plans for a career in marketing education.

Section 2

This fund was established in 1988 by S. Tracy Trussell in memory of Dr. Lester E. Sanders, honoring his distinguished career and leadership in Distributive Education.

Dr. Sanders served as Director of Kaw Area Vocational-Technical School in Topeka, Kansas, from 1967 to 1970 before joining the University of Georgia’s College of Education as head of the Distributive Education Department, now known as Workforce Education and Instructional Technology (WEIT). He dedicated the remainder of his career to the department, serving as a respected leader and educator until his passing in 1985.
