Fund Purpose
This fund provides a scholarship(s) annually to graduating seniors with the highest average in preparation for elementary education or general secondary education, calculated at the time of selecting the valedictorian at the University of Georgia or of determining averages for honors Day at the University of Georgia. The award shall be equally divided between one prize in elementary education and one prize in general secondary education.About the Donor

This fund was established in 1974 through a bequest from Betty P. Pusey in memory of her husband, Edwin D. Pusey, a longtime educator and leader in the University of Georgia’s College of Education.
Pusey joined the faculty of UGA’s College of Education in 1925 following a career as a school superintendent in Durham and Goldsboro, North Carolina. He went on to serve as dean of the College of Education before retiring in 1944 and was named dean emeritus the following year. Dr. Pusey passed away in 1953.
Through this fund, Betty Pusey created a lasting tribute to her husband and his commitment to education. The fund provides annual prizes recognizing excellence in elementary education and general secondary education, helping celebrate and encourage future educators in the College of Education.
